To get the most our of your camera you want adjustable shutter speeds starting at 30 seconds.

There are two basic ways to control the shutter on most cameras - B and T. The B setting lets you keep the shutter open until you press the B button. The T setting is for time delay - the shutter stays open for the specified time. Cameras with B settings can also be fitted with a locking cable release so that you don’t have to to keep your finger on the shutter for long exposures.

Without a cable release you can use the timer setting on your camera. This helps with keeping the picture stable from vibrations.
