The beginning 10 minutes or so of Get Smart are kinda unsatisfactory, and I figured “here we go, another preview that causes the dvd looks stronger than it is”. But it betters a lot after that point, primarily after the foremost face-off of Max with Agent 99
I’ve perpetually thought Anne Hathaway to be one of the prettiest Hollywood actresses and she did not fail me here either. Steve Carell has honest comic timing, he may from time to time remind you of Leslie Nielsen in The Naked Gun and Spy Hard style, but outside of that he manages to make Max a genuinely likable and human character, not simply a cartoon.
